Oh No, Not Another One

Why did I have to start watching Castle? Why did I watch Firefly? Why did I catch up on almost everything else Nathan Fillion has done? Because he's so damn handsome, nice, funny, and charming! I've fallen under his spell. As much as I don't like to admit that he's not "young" anymore, compared to 7-10 years ago, I still love this guy. And I really wish that I had gotten into this guy years ago. He's a self-professed geek who loves video games and super heroes; known as one of the nicest and friendliest guys in Hollywood (because he's Canadian, lol); has the best sense of humor without being too silly or goofy (his bloopers make me lmfao); oh my gawd and that voice! I am so in love with his voice. <3  Aaaand he loves Game of Thrones (he totally geeked out about meeting Robb Stark) and James Roday (of Psych)! Nathan Fillion and James Roday is my new favorite bromance that needs to reunite! They were in a show like almost 10 years ago and shared a small scene or two in which they didn't even speak to each other. Either Nathan needs to guest star on Psych or James guest star on Castle. But something has to happen between these two. I demand it!

A Few Reviews

Elementary (CBS) - So I checked out the pilot. I was a little underwhelmed by it. I was expecting a better execution of emotion and suspense. But I'm still interested in it and will continue to give it a chance.

Castle (ABC) - Actually I've only just started to watch it on TNT now that they've picked it up. It's already on its 5th season on ABC so I won't be catching those episodes any time soon. But I saw the first 3 episodes and completely fell in love with the show. The titular character, Richard Castle, is quite charming. One of the things that stood out for me about his character was his close relationship with his daughter and his mother. Most leads in TV shows have rocky, unstable relationships with their family, which is overplayed. So what Castle has with his mother and his daughter is refreshing. I love it.

Premium Rush - What can I say? I have a crush on Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He's such a talented cutie! And I love those dimples. :)  Alright, onto the movie, it was actually a pretty fun, entertaining movie. If you don't take it too seriously, it could be a rather enjoyable ride. B+

Resident Evil: Retribution - Let's just give it a C-. It would've been a D had it not been for the very hot character, Leon. I was forced to see this with my sister. I don't understand how she can still like this franchise. Though if I didn't see this movie, I wouldn't have seen the trailers for Silent Hill: Revelation 3D or Mama. Sean Bean and Kit Harington in the former; and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in the latter. Ned Stark! Jon Snow! Jaime Lannister! My favorites from Thrones

Next up will be Looper. I really want to see that!

I Love Game Of Thrones!

All I wanted was to acquaint myself with Alan Taylor's works. He's directing Thor: The Dark World so I'm curious about what he could do with this movie. Asgard and the Nine Realms, the Dark World, the Dark Elves - it'll be a complete fantasy movie. I've read that Taylor's done great work on Game of Thrones so why not check out an episode or two to determine what great work he'll do on Thor: The Dark World. But he directed the season finale and a few episodes of the next season. I wouldn't be able to understand the man's work without understanding the series first. So I start with the pilot episode. And I couldn't stop.

Is it an addictive show or is just a really damn good series? Or both? I don't know, but the thing is, Thrones isn't usually my kind of show. For American television, I go for the episodic, entertaining ones like cartoons, comedies, and crime shows. My top three shows are Psych, Leverage, and How I Met Your Mother. The only "dramatic" ones that I used to watch are Law and Order: SVU and House. (I LOVED HOUSE!!!) The one show that comes close to Thrones in the drama genre that I used to watch was Revenge. But when the two-timing and back-stabbing started, that was when I realized that I didn't give a damn enough about these people to continue watching. And that's the key – likable characters.

Love and HateCollapse )

And this is why I shouldn't get into these political shows full of treachery and treason. I can become a little too passionate in my hatred for the villains. I love to hate.

Random Stuff

Random Stuff #1
I got back from a wonderful vacation a couple days ago. Some family members and I drove up to Vermont and stayed at a nice ski resort. The thing is, aside from winter and summer holidays, our family doesn't get together too often. And we definitely have not vacationed together like this. So this one was a new experience. And I loved it. I know it sounds corny and cheesy, but I like spending time with family, with nieces and nephews. Even if it's just board games and card games, we have a lot of fun. I love that my whole family is sarcastic. My brothers are such pranksters, which in turn make my nephews pranksters as well. I love my sisters' sound effects when taunted with a creepy crawler. My nieces all have their own, seperate personalities. The one who's most like me, was pretty much attached to me during the whole time, even though she's 18 already. We bonded, once again, over the Avengers, lol. So yeah, this vacation was really nice. I so hope we get to do this annually. =)

Random Stuff #2
Rurouni Kenshin live action movie theme is sung by a band called One OK Rock. Lead singer of said band was that ninth member of NEWS. Remember when NEWS started out as 9 members? One OK Rock is a really good band though.

Random Stuff #3
I realize The Words with Bradley Cooper is coming out in a couple weeks. I also recently saw the trailer for The Big Wedding with Amanda Seyfried. What do these have in common? At first glance, nothing because my beloved Ben Barnes is not even credited in the trailer for either. I believe he portrayed pretty important roles in those movies yet he's not important enough to credit in the trailer? Why? Is it because his name is not "big" enough in Hollywood? Of course that's the reason why...

Random Stuff #4
This next guy portays my favorite from Game of Thrones (Jon Snow). Even though I don't find Kit Harington to be all that good-looking compared to Richard Madden (Robb Stark), there's still something magnetic about him. It could be something about his puppy dog eyes, that actually reminds me a lot of Ben. When I looked up Kit's filmography, there was something familiar about the title The Seventh Son. So I clicked that and behold! Ben Barnes! (I had forgotten that he scored this gig, lol.) My beloved Ben and Kit will be in a movie together! So lovely. Also Kit will be lending his voice to How to Train Your Dragon 2. Also great news because the first is my favorite so far from Dreamworks Animation.

My post on Game of Thrones will be up soon. I have to sort through my thoughts on this. Otherwise I could be posting a 5-page essay...

The Bourne Legacy

Back when I saw Snow White and the Huntsman, I realized something. If, at any time while I'm watching a movie, I can hear myself thinking "Okay...when are things gonna get good?" then obviously the movie's not gonna be good. If I'm completely entranced, then that's one hell of a movie. But if I find myself lost in my own thoughts, then it's not so good after all.

The Bourne Legacy took quite a while to get going anywhere. And when it did, it was too brief. All the good, intense parts were too short. Jeremy Renner was great as Aaron Cross, and when Cross gets into ass-kicking mode, he's awesome! Yeah, it's cool to see him knock out 3 guys in 5 seconds, but I wanted more of that! Too abrupt. And when we get to the climax of the movie, it's this chase scene that drags on for a little too long. Ironic because, like I said, the other action scenes were NOT long enough. As for the ending, unsatisfying to me. Cue the ending theme, and I'm thinking "Whose cell phone is going off?!" Oh, it's the ending...that's it?

There's not much else for upcoming movies that I'm excited about, but Premium Rush with Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks not too bad. Plus, come on, JGL! I love this kid!

OH HOW I WISH TO BE IN JAPAN ON THE 25TH for the most-anticipated movie of this year (at least for me)! The live-action Rurouni Kenshin movie is out!  Ten years ago, I had fallen in love with RuroKen. Of all the things I had hoped for RuroKen, never did I imagine this ten years later. And the movie looks EPIC. I'm impressed by the action scenes. Best part of all, they're looking to release this internationally. My hopes for seeing this in a theatre are so much higher now. YAY!

I Hope This Works...

I want to post more often. And in order to do that, I need something to post about. That something can't be a weekly or bi-weekly or even monthly thing. I just can't dedicate myself to that kind of regime, especially with a busy and random work schedule. So I've decided to post about movies that I've seen in theaters recently. It won't be too much of a critical review. Just whether or not I've enjoyed it, and whether or not it's worth the $10 ticket. Oh,  I'm not going to back-track the dozen movies I've seen earlier this year. I'll just start with what I saw this past weekend. Don't worry. Spoiler-free.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
First and foremost, what occurred during the midnight premier in Colorado was an absolute tragedy. So I was a little hesitant about going to see the movie for fear of something going down like that. Plus before the previews started, there were these lights (probably flashlights) that circled the ceiling every 10 second or so, and that made me even more paranoid. But once that disappeared and the movie started, I was in for quite a ride. I pretty much lost myself in the movie. But then again, I grew up loving superhero cartoon shows (more Marvel heroes than DC but still.)  At one point, I found myself fighting the urge to kick ass alongside Batman. (Yeah, that happened more than once during the Avengers, lol.) And every other scene was intense with or without anything happening. Without realizing it, you'll be clenching your fists, rooting for the remaining few to save Gotham from Bane. Like with any superhero movie, the hero will come to rescue. And its a grande finale when he does. I loved the last minute or two of the movie. Yes, it was a long movie, but when this last minute played, you knew it was ending. You also knew where it was going. It was right at that time that I didn't want it to end. I wanted it to continue! When was the last time an ending left me this excited?

Next up will hopefully be the Bourne Legacy. 'Til next time~

Changes

One of these days, I will finally declare this journal DEAD. But not yet. So what's changed during the past 7 months?

RyoPi leaving NEWS. A little saddened that I lost my RyoPi via NEWS, but let's be honest, you kind of saw coming. I do wish the best of luck to NEWS, Pi, Ryo, and K8 in everything they do. Oh, and yes I'm following Ryo's Papa wa Idol. This drama has made me realize how proud I am of him. I think back on the many years he's taken on smaller, supporting roles. This is his 3rd, maybe 4th time leading a drama. And it's as the idol Nishikido Ryo! I'm proud of him! <3

As for non-fandom aka real life changes, I've got some good stuff going on.

Read more...Collapse )

Lastly, it's the AVENGERS opening weekend! I already know I want to see this more than twice, lol. The first time will be for my honey Chris Hemsworth who is simply divine. Pun intended because, you know, he's Thor, lol. The second will be for Chris Evans, a fellow Bostonian...ish. Well near the area anyways. And the third time will be for the kick-ass movie itself! I. CANNOT. WAIT. TO. SEE. THIS.

Matters of the Heart

I've been busy all summer. I resolved to limit my online time when I have any downtime. Really, the only I do online is browse for new music and new books. But I did keep up with Ryo's Zenkai Girl. I was anxiously awaiting each episode. But that was only for the first three epsiodes. I grew bored after that. I mean, Ryo and the kid were so adorable together. I'm not sure how I felt or still feel about Ryo and Gakki's romance. I don't think I really cared about their romance. But I will say, it was worth the kiss at the end. Oh...my...@_@ That is the sole reason why Ryo should take on more romance dramas, lol.

I don't usually talk much about real/personal life, but even just letting it out here helps. So here's what's up.

Warning: Very Lengthy, Hearty, StuffCollapse )

Yuu-chan and Saa-chan

Such a wonderful family pic, but I LOVE that Yuuji and Sachi are just staring into each other's eyes. RyoxAsami!!!

Spoiler much???Collapse )

Inu wo kau to Iu Koto is a family-oriented drama yet I can't get over the married couple. They are so not romantic and lovey-dovey, and that's why I love them. I said from the beginning that I felt they were playing up this couple. And even though there was nothing big (plot-wise) to test their marriage, they did have their little fights. With every episode, little by little, the audience was getting some form of "affection" from this couple. Especially with ep07 and ep08. After watching ep08, I felt that the finale would finally give us a kiss. Even though it aired already in Japan, I don't know if there was or wasn't a kiss. But I do hope and feel that there will be one. *crosses fingers*

Ryo's Current and New Drama~

Spoiler-ishCollapse )
I don't get this about me. This is a family-oriented drama, and here I am gushing over the very unromantic married couple. And I have said that I don't like to watch overly romantic, lovey-dovey drama. I honestly get "fed up" with the romance and will no longer care for it. But if it's a drama that has little to subtle romance, that kind of drama I like because it will make me wish for more romance. Get it?

Speaking of romance, it's official that Ryo has another drama coming up for the summer season. Zenkai Girl is the title, and it falls into the romantic comedy genre. It'll be a first for Ryo to do a romance genre, though it's also a comedy. Again, he's playing a chef; again he's playing a father; it's like a combo of Chonmage Purin and Sky Tree together! After leading Chonmage Purin and Sky Tree, even now, it feels odd to see Ryo so much in a drama. But at the same time, I could so get used to this, and it made me wish for him to have a summer drama. I'm so surprised that he does! I'm so excited! It's his first in a more romantic genre, but I'm not sure how I feel about Aragaki Yui being the one he falls in love with. She's cute, and I've only ever seen her in 2 dramas. Those roles didn't make me love/like her like I do with Ueto Aya, Ueno Juri, and Asami. So *shrugs*  I had wished for his first "drama" girlfriend to be Aya; his first "drama" wife to be Aya; even now I'm wishing for his first romance drama to be with Aya instead.
